Meeting Minutes - November 3rd

Meeting Location: Mammoth Comics

Attending: Shannon (President), Adrean (V.P.), CJ (Secretary), Jack (Treasurer), JayCee, Eris, Donna, Mac, Ryan, Kaz, Malea
Called to order 7:04 pm

Old Business:
1. Committee Reports
a. Communications Committee (CJ)
No updates to report.

b. Dark Arts Committee (JayCee)
Wizard World was last weekend! We sold enough books as a group to cover the cost of the table, and sold 56 books in total!
Saturday, November 25th, we will be at Gardner's selling and signing books. We may also be at the Tulsa Flea Market that day.
Sunday, December 3rd is the Punk Rock Flea Market.
Saturday, December 16th, we have another weekend at Gardner's.

c. Fundraising Committee (Z - in absentia, Katy - in absentia)
No updates to report.

d. Newsletter Committee (Shannon)
We have decided to cancel our subscription. We should be able to print and use the stamps we already have in the account.
We have decided to change how we print the newsletter; from now on, the interior pages will be black and white, while the covers will still be in full color. Jack will research printing costs and report back to the group on January 17th.
The next newsletter's articles are due by January 6th. Editor of the Quarter is Shannon; Kaz will write the article.

e. Outreach Committee (Adrean)
Next week, we will put together the basket to be donated to our adopted teacher. If you see any decorations or items that you think desperately need included, be sure to bring them!
College ruled paper, dry erase markers, tissues, and pencils are all on the regular supply list. We currently have tissues, markers, paper, pencils, and almonds. We've also been told that our adopted teacher enjoys popcorn, nuts, and kettle cooked chips.

f. OWFI Committee (Shannon)
If you want to include books in the OWFI bookstore, they have to have been published since the last conference.
OWFI has officially announced its costume theme: 1950s. So we're going to alter our costume theme: 1950s-themed superheroes! Maybe? We're working on it.
Reminder that OWFI 2018's theme for our baskets is superheroes! If you get supplies for the basket, be sure to bring them to Lord Mistress of the Baskets, Z!
The contest opens January 1st and closes February 1st. Get ready for it!

New Business:
1. Certificate Presentation to JayCee (Mac, Shannon, Adrean)
Due to her help in organizing events for us, JayCee was presented with a certificate recognizing it. She's pretty great, you guys.

2. Budget Update (Jack)
We have submitted our order for banquet tables for the 2018 OWFI Conference. We have no scheduled payments (except for the annual renewal of the domain name), so now we need to begin fundraising to sponsor contest categories and conference scholarships. With all that in consideration, we will need to raise at least $300.

3. Holiday Meeting Schedule
The next major holiday is Thanksgiving, November 23rd. We are currently thinking of meeting, but without critiquing, as more of a lowkey event. Potentially a party?
The meetings before and after Christmas would be the 22nd and 29th of December. We should be good to go for those meetings.
